In Remembrance

$39.00

For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

~ 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (ESV)

Artist’s thoughts:

In Remembrance was created to represent the spoken words of Jesus at the Passover meal before His crucifixion.

As I created this painting I could see the hands of our Savior (represented by the various flesh colors used within the painting) taking the bread, blessing it, and breaking it before sharing it with His followers.

And then Jesus said, “This is my body, which is for you. do this in remembrance of Me…”

Also notice ribbon-like strokes of wine colored paint included within this art piece. This color was used to represent Jesus’s words…

“This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me…”

Do we sometimes get “too familiar” with the process of communion, both the physical act of taking communion and our relational heart’s response to communion? Perhaps so…

Lord God, let us not waver in the sacred holiness, beauty, honor, and eternal power of communion–both physical and relational. Let us not waver from the epicenter of communion with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit…

Let us always live, In Remembrance of the One who came, who died, and rose again…so that we might inherit eternal life as the sons and daughters of God. Yes Lord, let us live In Remembrance…
